Allan L. Bernstein, M.D., is a neurologist certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has been involved in clinical practice, teaching and research for over 30 years and is the author of more than fifty articles and book chapters in major medical publications on stroke, memory loss,
Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, headache, pain, nutrition, vitamins, and multiple sclerosis. Dr. Bernstein’s background includes college and medical school in Upstate New York, training in Internal Medicine at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, and residency in Neurology at Boston University. He has been on the teaching faculty of Boston University, UC Davis, and currently, UCSF. His practice includes adults and children and is focused on the diagnosis and management of all types of neurologic diseases, including difficult headaches, balance problems, unusual weakness and numbness, dizziness, lapses in consciousness, and movement disorders of all types.
With the recent addition of state-of-the-art equipment at HDH, Dr. Bernstein is able to perform nerve conduction studies and electromyography (the study of individual muscles). He is also a principal investigator in clinical trials of new medications that are still being evaluated.
